Programs

The South St. Paul Educational Foundation exists to support the students and staff of our schools. Our mission is to bridge donors and students to enrich learning and impact lives. One way we do this is through program grants for classrooms. Alumni, community members, business and civic organizations and staff have contributed funding for creative programs, pilot projects for new approaches, field trips and other curriculum enhancing projects. These funds are only available for programs for which no district funding exists.

Requests need to be completed at least two weeks prior to the Educational Foundation Board meeting so the request can be considered in a timely manner (The board meets the second Wednesday of every month.).

Grades 6, 7, & 8

Planners for the Middle school students

Middle school students are all receiving daily planners to organize their homework, set academic and social/emotional goals, and track their progress. These planners are funded through the General Endowed Program fund.

Middle School

Xello

The middle school received program funds to purchase Xello software which will help students connect their interests to post-secondary plans. This program is an interactive planning tool that will create personalized portfolios that showcase student interests, skills and abilities to help them plan their futures.

Kindergarteners

Dodge Nature Center trip

All Kindergarten students from Lincoln and Kaposia had a field trip to Dodge Nature Center to learn about farm animals! Thank you to the SSP Garden Club for funding this special day for our youngest learners!

Tri District CAPS program

The General Endowed Program Fund is helping SSP high-school students in the Tri-District College and Career Pathways (CAPS) Program with professional dressware. 40 participants will receive a 1/4 zip pullover and polo shirt to wear for interviews, guest speakers and field trips.

Lincoln Center

Recess Marathon

Jen Friedges, the Lincoln Center Phy. Ed. teacher, requested program funds to provide EZ Scan Recess Marathon for all 600 students at the school! They will be able to run laps during recess and keep track of them with a personalized QR code. The students will receive prizes and recognition for their work and get some exercise!

Student Athletes and Activities

Mental Health

The Activities department is looking to incorporate mental health training for our students who participate in athletics and activities, student leaders (captains council), as well as our coaches. The program they are using is called Durable Minds, and the students will participate in an interactive experience enabling them to learn, discuss, create and apply personalized commitment plans while networking with teammates. This amazing opportunity is funded through the Gloria Woog Kamish program fund.

The South St. Paul Educational Foundation supports educational excellence by awarding grants to teachers and supporting programs that have a meaningful impact on the students in the district. Our priority is for creative, innovative curriculum enhancements, pilot projects for new approaches, and technology support.

Program funds are available through the generosity of individuals and businesses that donate to the Foundation with the expressed purpose for their donations. There are thirty program fund options including: Art, debate, literacy, at-risk students, winter clothing, activity fees, band, and special education to name a few.
